Any hope for my Crystalline?
Well... to say in short, for some reason I had another (crappy) weapon in Weapon Slot 1, which made my Crystalline go in my bag. I went to the merchant to sell the crappy weapon (WHICH IM 100% SURE I REPLACED AGAIN WITH THE CRYSTALLINE LATER ON) and... well, I didnt check the list and just clicked on the only item in my main bag and sold it...
I later found out my Crystalline was gone and I had the crappy weapon equipped Now this Crystalline wasn't all THAT great but it worked perfectly with my build, and well, its a Crystalline. Is there any chance for me to get it back? (maybe write a message to Anet and explain what happened?) Plz say yes |

repeat for other slots to move them down and keep them out of the way. also be sure to uncheck all but the main bag so that is your only selling bag. sheeshh dont people ever actually look at what they are selling or is it taking too much time to run the mouse over the items you are going to sell? |

After losing a gold rune way back when I first start playing from "super fast finger @ merchant syndrome", I now put everything I want to keep in the bottom 2 bags behind a non sellable item. Also I have unclicked the checkbox on the final bag completely, so it never shows up in merchant window whatsoever.
Live and learn I guess, good luck in your new sword hunt! |

i.e You double-click on a piece of Chaar Hide, but it doesn't sell. Without realizing that you're lagging, you try to double-click on the item again, hoping that it would sell this time. The server processes the clicks finally, and sells off the item to the merchant. Then you cry. |

What happened here, was most likely cause I swapped in a mission from my Crystalline to a noob staff to check what it looked like, although I am 100% sure I switched back to my Crystalline (cause the mission wasn't finished yet and I wouldn't run around with a staff while I use alot of sword skills), it still got in my main bag SOMEHOW which I find kinda strange. And I also blame Anet for not making something AGAINST these kind of things. In World of Warcraft, you got a buyback system. If you accidently sell somethign there for WHATEVER reason, you can just get it back for the amount of money you got for it. And this crap Anet came up with (only items in weapon slots get a warning) has never helped me before. And why didn't they make a warning messages for ALL Crystallines and Dwarven Axes? These items are very rare in GW and only drop from quest-reward chests, which makes them worth alot. I am pretty sure no one would just sell a purple/gold Crystalline to the Merchant, neither a Dwarven Axe. |

That's bad luck right there. I definitely know how you feel as i've accidently sold a weapon or two to the merchant that could have been quite a fortune if i had sold them on the market.
But in all honesty, it was my own fault for being careless. And so it was yours. There basically is no reason to bitch at A-Net if you could have avoided it on your own. You know, basically, whenever i'm selling a gold item, i now triple check if it is the right one to sell. It doesn't hurt to do so, it's not even taking up time either (It was a gold item, wasn't it? You're not making this fuss over a purle or even less item, are you?). Next problem, as you complain that there is no confirmation when selling items. Who is to decide what item is rare and which is not? Where do you draw the line? Are zodiac items still rare? And why are Ghostly Staffs not considered rare (as an example)? No matter where you put the line, you will allways get a person that sold his favorite weapon. So let's just include a "Do not sell" Checkbox for Items, add a total of two confirmation windows for it, implement a re-buy functionality and i downright promise you, it won't be long until the first person sold his weapon to the merchant, regardless the countless protection measures. There is only one thing that ultimately protects you from losing expensive items. And that is caution. And sure as hell, if i'm wielding an uber rare skin item and i'm going switch happy with other weapons - i triple check what i'm selling. |

ArenaNet has already put many measures in place to help players in thier efforts to protect valuable items from accidental selling to the merchant. We can disable bags, and place quest items in placeholder slots. We have warnings that show whenever we are going to sell a customized or equipped item. So, you can not blame ArenaNet for not giving you options without appearing a fool, because in fact they have gone out of thier way to help us with this problem. This is a free online game (after serial key purchase); the fact that they continue to listen to us and add features as I described above when we request them should show that they wouldn't just leave you open to being ownt by your own clumsiness (though they really should, because we deserve it with the way we whine and complain all the time). As to warnings for Crystalline Swords and Dwarven Axes? Well, gee! I want warnings for my spiffy skinned clean non-max Oni Blade! ArenaNet, I demand you implement such a feature immediately or I shall defame you on fansites dedicated to your productions! Just be more careful next time. Take more measures to protect yourself from such accidents; you can not expect ArenaNet to hold your hand every step of the way. They are a company, not your babysitter. Oh, and please. Just move on. Crystalline or no, it was still just a sword. Easily replaceable in less than half an hour of game time, even if it's not that oh-so-famous skin. |

Don't put items equipped to your characters into bags, at a merchant there is no way to say an EQUIPPED weapon.

The moral to this story is to look before you click, ive sold rare items before worth 50k+ for a whopping 315g but it was MY fault because i was quick on the "sell" button. However you can always move on, sure it worked "perfect" for your build.. why not just make a new sword? how difficult should that be, is it a MUST that it has to be a crystalline or else you cant use it? I hope not. Just learn from your mistakes, be pissed in the short term, and quit your whining. End of story.

You should thank yourself. Crystallines are the ugliest swords in the game.

A lot of stuck up people here.
Think about it: You don't accidentally sell your extremely valuable pog for 2 bucks in real life. It doesn't make sense that you'd do something like that willingly in a game like GW either. If someone gets offended and start to cry because a buyback system makes GW too similar to WoW, maybe (s)he should hide under their bed and think about how awfully similar some aspects of GW are to real life and other games. It's a fact that it's way too easy to merch something unintentionally in Guild Wars, and no way to get it back. Suggestions: Dyes can only be sold to dye traders. If you want to merch a rune, gold or green, a confirmation box appears. Same goes with materials, weapon mods and collector items. *) To merch: To sell an item to a merchant. |
